Description :

The Registered Nurse will provide care in the Labor and Delivery specialty.

Patient diagnoses include antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological.

Skills required include labor and delivery, non-stress tests, and triage of obstetrical patients.

The use of external fetal heart monitoring and telemetry interpretation is necessary.

Candidates must recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.

Administration of blood and blood products is expected.

Candidates should be proficient in drawing venous blood and starting and maintaining IVs.

Experience with infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring is required.

Candidates must be familiar with magnesium sulfate therapy and pitocin administration.

The role includes circulating for cesarean sections and recovering patients post-cesarean.

Epidural anesthesia management and pain assessment are important skills.

Care for episiotomy / incisional management, foley catheter insertion, and fundus / perineum care is required.

The unit will accept first-time travelers.

Candidates must have experience in a patient ratio of 1 : 1 during days and nights.

Interdisciplinary support will include various healthcare professionals.

The unit has a daily census with diverse patient age groups, including neonates and adults.

Familiarity with the charting system Epic is preferred.
