Safety Manager - Industrial Mfg! Perm! Safety Manager - Champion a Culture of Excellence! Location : Onsite - West Layfayette, Ohio area. Employment Type : Full-Time. Inexpensive cost of living and nice area! Competitive Salary + Benefits Package. Base salary $110K-130K and DOE

Are you a strategic safety leader ready to protect, empower, and inspire ? Do you thrive in high-paced manufacturing environments , fostering a culture of shared responsibility and operational excellence ?

As Safety Manager , you'll be the driving force behind our commitment to employee well-being and regulatory compliance , ensuring zero-harm operations at our 600-employee unionized heavy manufacturing site . You will lead VPP Star-certified initiatives , building a proactive, behavior-driven safety culture .

What You'll Own

  • Champion a proactive safety culture , fostering employee-led initiatives and peer engagement.
  • Lead OSHA VPP Star certification efforts , maintaining best-in-class safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and regulatory bodies-conducting audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with union leaders & frontline teams to reinforce shared safety accountability.
  • Develop & mentor safety teams , driving operational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee incident investigations , ensuring data-driven root cause analysis and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver training programs , including hazard communication, lockout / tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and machine guarding.
  • Monitor & analyze safety metrics , using leading indicators to steer strategic improvements.

Who We're Looking For :

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years in safety leadership within heavy industrial or manufacturing settings .
  • Proven success in unionized environments , fostering alignment and collaboration.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA standards, Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), and VPP requirements .
  • Experience leading audits, compliance programs, and regulatory interactions .
  • Strong communication & coaching skills , inspiring leadership at all levels.
  • CSP, CIH, or CHMM certifications preferred.
