About The Position

Pride Health is hiring for an  Ophthalmic Assistant to support our client's medical facility based in  Poughkeepsie, NY . This is a  local 3-month contract  opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Details :

• Demonstrates clinical competence in providing direct patient care and assisting physicians during ophthalmic examinations and procedures.
• Performs patient care duties within scope of practice, adhering to departmental standards, policies, and protocols.
• Proactively addresses patients' individual and family needs, ensuring a positive and informed experience throughout their visit.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for evaluation in a timely and organized manner.
• Accurately records and updates patient information, including vital signs, visual acuity, and medical history, in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Assists physicians and mid-level providers during diagnostic testing and in-office treatments.
• Performs authorized clinical procedures such as vision screening, tonometry, pupil dilation, and selected laboratory tests as directed.
• Prepares and processes e-prescriptions to pharmacies as instructed by the physician, in compliance with policy.
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains ophthalmic instruments and equipment per manufacturer and infection control guidelines.
• Processes and labels laboratory specimens appropriately, ensuring correct documentation and timely transport.
