Over 50 million people use Speechifys text-to-speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio, so they can read faster, read more, and remember more. Speechifys text-to-speech reading products include its iOS app, Android App, Mac App, Chrome Extension, and Web App. Google named Speechify Chrome Extension of the Year and Apple named Speechify its Design award winner for inclusivity for 2025.

Today, nearly 200 people around the globe work on Speechify in a 100% distributed setting. Our team includes frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and professionals from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, with backgrounds from Stanford, Stripe, Vercel, Bolt, and other startups.

Overview

With the growth of our Android app, the most used text-to-speech app in the Play Store, we seek a Senior Android Engineer to support our expanding user base and work on exciting new projects to push us forward.

This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about making product decisions and delivering excellent user experiences.

Our interview process includes several technical interviews, typically completed within 1 week.

What Youll Do

• Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high-quality functionality
• Shape the future of the Android team
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering)
• Review pull requests and support teammates
• Address critical issues and handle unexpected challenges
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA
