Role Summary :

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who will focus on new client acquisition for Mallard Agency in the areas of video production, branding, design, and marketing strategy. You should have a book of business and industry contacts established. You will develop new national, regional and local relationships with C-suite, VP, Director and Manager level contacts in the marketing, sales, HR, and leadership teams in mid-sized businesses. You will present strategic solutions through consultative selling that enables a high level of client satisfaction while also meeting profitability targets. You will spend most days either in our studio or in the field, building relationships to attract prospective clients and drive new business. You'll also gain a deep understanding of our business, industry, culture, and value proposition.

Responsibilities :

  • Support the CEO in developing and implementing a comprehensive business development strategy.
  • Be responsible for the growth of the agency’s annual revenue by playing a major role in client acquisition efforts.
  • Seek out and build relationships with contacts across varying industries for new business opportunities.
  • Work vigorously to achieve established sales / growth goals.
  • Identify and manage qualified leads and prospects generated from marketing campaigns, social connections and personal networking.
  • Complete immediate and consistent follow-up for all incoming leads.
  • Quickly understand the agency’s business, industry and competition, and leverage that knowledge to help generate new ideas to strategically grow the business.
  • Monitor and maintain new account and client information in relevant databases.
  • Support marketing campaigns and events, and follow-up with key contacts as required.
  • Attend industry events, participate in sales meetings and training, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current service offerings.
  • Demonstrate the highest possible standards in your work, business acumen and professionalism.
  • Formulate plans and strategic presentations that clearly direct and inspire strategic and creative solutions that help win business.
  • Work closely with agency leadership during the RFP process to ensure the scope, direction, and timeline of each project meets client and Mallard Agency requirements.
  • Understand our competitive landscape to effectively sell against competitors and position Mallard Agency as the market leader.
  • Meet and exceed all sales and revenue targets, remaining accountable to leadership on a regular basis throughout the sales cycle.
  • Expect approximately 20% business travel and adaptable hours based on new business opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, acquiring new clients, and forming high-value partnerships.
  • Sales experience required, including established industry contacts and a personal book of business.
  • Experience in an advertising agency or service-based environment preferred.
  • Skilled in managing long sales cycles using a consultative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly assign tasks, set timetables, and report on progress.
  • Excellent skills in sales, management, promotion, research, analysis, writing, organization, and presentations.
  • Solid understanding of marketing fundamentals, including branding, strategic planning, positioning, and integrated campaign development.
  • Familiarity with the creative process from concept through execution and implementation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of agency functions and the ability to effectively coordinate and deploy internal resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting or exceeding deadlines and expectations.
  • Strong business acumen and market insight, with the ability to quickly adapt to changing business environments and resolve challenges creatively.
  • Understanding of client / agency dynamics and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, project management tools, sales software, and CRM platforms.
