Director of Product and Laboratory Development

📍 Houston, TX | Full-Time | On-site

Department : Product Development / Operations

Reports to : President

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Product and Laboratory Development to lead our efforts in new product innovation and laboratory startup. This is a senior leadership position that plays a critical role in shaping our company’s future through the development of wellness, hospital, IV, and related products. The Director will oversee all aspects of product formulation, testing, and regulatory compliance, while also driving the establishment of a fully licensed, independent laboratory in Houston, TX.

As part of the senior management team, you will collaborate cross-functionally with operations, pharmacy, quality, sales, and marketing to ensure product excellence and alignment with company strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead the design, development, and enhancement of new and existing products.
  • Oversee stability and feasibility studies, and manage external partnerships with consulting firms.
  • Ensure products meet all local, state, and federal regulatory and quality standards.
  • Conduct technical writing and execution of qualification / verification protocols (IQ / OQ / PQ).
  • Evaluate and improve current formulas based on performance data and product reviews.
  • Provide scientific and operational leadership to internal teams and management.

Laboratory Development & Operations

  • Oversee a 12-month laboratory readiness program in collaboration with external partners (e.g., CGMP Validation, LLC or Azur).
  • Manage the licensing process to achieve full operational status for a new independent lab in Houston, TX.
  • Lead project management for procurement of materials, equipment, and new technologies.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for laboratory compliance, testing, and documentation.
  • Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a member of the senior management team, contributing to organizational strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to technical staff, ensuring high performance and regulatory adherence.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing to align product design and performance with customer experience.
  • Communicate progress and findings to leadership through regular reporting and presentations.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in product development , laboratory operations , and regulatory compliance within the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or wellness industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of cGMP , FDA , and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven leadership ability with a history of managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adept at technical writing and documentation.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability.
