Job Summary
- The Landscape Leadsman is responsible for performing a wide range of landscape and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks. This position oversees crew safety and compliance while performing and directing landscape and irrigation tasks such as planting, sod installation, and sprinkler setup.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform landscaping and irrigation tasks such as laying sod, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and installing sprinklersEnsure that all employees attend the weekly tailgate meetingsFollow and enforce safety standards by :Identify and review potential traffic hazards
Perform hard hats and safety gear checksConduct underground utility and trade hazard reviewsEnsure general public safety around the job siteMaintain a hazardous communication folder, including all relevant forms for chemicals used on the job siteReport reckless or dangerous activities to the job Superintendent; notify the Safety Officer of any accidents and submit accident reports according to company policy requirementsSupport the team in completing projects on time while maintaining quality and safety standardsEducation and Experience :
Minimum of 5 years’ experienceKnowledge of OSHA Standards6 months commercial landscape experience preferredAble to lead and direct a crew of 2 to 4 peoplePractice workplace safetyBilingual (Spanish) a plusPhysical Demands / Requirements :
Use hand equipment with mechanized moving blades, such as gas-powered shearsUse manual hand tools such as shovelsWork at elevated heights, including on an 8-foot A-frame ladderUse a hand shovel for an extended periodMoves soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and plants trees, shrubs, and flowersAbility to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)Ability to load / unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the dayWork Environment :
Work in / or about situations near direct automotive trafficWork near or about natural bodies of waterWork 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days / week (some overtime / weekend work required)Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees FahrenheitAbility to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of timeBrightView Landscapes, LLC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.
