Your specific responsibilities :

Performs and serves as a Construction Manager for the Palatka Construction Office in support of highway and bridge construction program. Supervises employees by communicating regularly, plans, organizes, coordinates and schedules assigned work for employees. Motivates, trains and evaluates employees on the performance of their duties. Supervises subordinates administering consultant and construction contracts, final estimates preparation, and materials coordination. Ensures all work is completed in compliance with the established procedures for each discipline. Advises staff with regard to all aspects of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) construction contract administration matters. Participates in applicant selection and hiring process. Provides employee orientation, training, counseling and disciplinary actions, and prepares employee performance evaluations.

The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities :

Knowledge of :

• Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, principles of road and bridge construction and maintenance.
• Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production and / or operations.
• Knowledge of Construction Project Administration Manual.
• Knowledge of conflict resolution and negotiating techniques.

Licensure / Registration / Certification requirements :

Licensure with the State Board of Professional Engineers under Chapter 471 Florida Statutes.

Other job-related requirements :

A valid Class E Driver's License is required. May be required to respond before, during and following emergency situations. This position requires a valid Class (E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy.
