The Mid-Level Practitioner shall work as an employee of the Coteau des Prairies Health Care System. The Mid-Level Practitioner, acting in an independent role, shall provide care under the guidelines established by the policies and procedures of both the Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Functions independently in the emergency room providing the collaborating physician is available within twenty minutes for telephone or personal consult.
• Admits and rounds on in-patients.
• While working in the ED, will monitor and follow up on labs ordered from previous patients.
• Use E-Emergency and other tele health services accordingly.
• Works in a hospitalist format when asked by Peers - First call for inpatient patient care.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings, scheduled workshops and in-services.
• May serve as the attending Provider for patients admitted to the facility in conjunction with the backup Physician.
• Responds to Rapid Response Team (RRT) calls as needed.
• Demonstrates timely responsiveness to nursing services or other ancillary services involved in patient care.
• Provide timely and accurate "hand offs" to other Providers as needed.
• Stays current in emergency medicine and inpatient medicine.
• Use the Electronic Medical Record completely and properly at all times including CPOE, medication reconciliation and all other functions.
• Expedite the transfer of patients that require a higher level of care.
