Description :

We are seeking a Pediatric Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment.

This position involves working 3 shifts of 12 hours each.

The schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.

No on-call shifts are required.

Floating to the PICU is required.

Off-floor procedures may include sedation, lumbar punctures, bone marrow procedures, line placement, and imaging.

A sedation service is available for many of these procedures.

The unit has six designated rooms for oncology patients, though administering chemotherapy is not required.

If you have APHON certification, it is appreciated but not necessary.

Bedside Shift Reporting, use of AIDET, and hourly rounding are required for this unit.

Strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and phone etiquette are essential.

The unit deals with all pediatric diagnoses and operates as a Level 2 pediatric trauma center.

There are multiple pediatric specialties available on campus.

First-time travelers are accepted.

Patient ratios on days are typically 3 patients per nurse.

The average daily census is 12, with 24 beds available on the unit.

Patients of various age groups, including neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics, are cared for in this unit.

Interdisciplinary support is provided by Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, Pharmacy, and others.

This role requires competency in administration of blood and blood products, management of ports, central line care, and pediatric dosage calculations.

Knowledge and experience with pediatric emergency protocols and equipment are pivotal for success in this role.
