Loader (Entry-Level)
The Loader plays a critical role in the safe, accurate, and efficient loading of wallboard products for shipment via truck and rail. Key responsibilities include :
- Safely operate forklifts, mobile equipment, and related machinery.
- Ensure correct product selection, piece counts, and load securement.
- Maintain quality standards and product integrity during loading operations.
- Follow safety procedures in a high-traffic, industrial environment.
- Support warehouse and shipping operations to maintain operational flow.
General requirements include :
Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment around moving and automated equipment.Ability to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).Ability to lift / move, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. frequently.Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, squat, and bend for extended periods.Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills for operational instructions and documentation.Forklift experience desired.Ability to perform basic math and metrics.Primary duties / responsibilities include :
Perform all duties in compliance with plant, departmental, and regulatory safety policies.Conduct pre-operational inspections of forklifts, trailers, rail cars, and mobile equipment.Load and secure wallboard products for outbound shipment according to load plans, weight, and balance requirements.Inspect, handle, and store products while maintaining accuracy and quality.Complete required documentation, including Bills of Lading, load paperwork, and inspection records.Maintain housekeeping standards, including debris removal, dunnage cleanup, and spill response.Operate shrink-wrap equipment, boom equipment, and hand tools according to procedures.Support operational needs across departments as required.Work environment and conditions include :
Full PPE required when operating equipment and when outside equipment cabs.Warehouse, loading dock, and shipping areas with exposure to :Moving forklifts and rail equipment
