Tax Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract-to-permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing tax preparation, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This position is based in New York, New York, and offers a great opportunity to contribute to corporate and individual tax filings while utilizing your expertise in tax accounting. Responsibilities include preparing corporate and individual tax returns with accuracy and compliance, utilizing UltraTax software and Excel to manage tax data and calculations, and creating and posting journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. You will oversee month-end close processes to ensure timely financial reporting, reconcile accounts and prepare statements to close out financial books, and ensure compliance with corporate tax regulations and sales tax requirements. You will collaborate with team members to address tax-related inquiries and challenges, maintain general ledger accounts, and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements include proficiency in corporate and sales tax processes, including preparation and filing, hands-on experience with UltraTax software and advanced Excel skills, strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger maintenance, familiarity with corporate tax return preparation and compliance, ability to manage month-end close and financial reconciliation tasks, detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and prior experience in tax accounting or a similar role is preferred.
