Overview
Under the general direction of the Administration Support Program Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, the SSM I directly and independently manages the Regulations, Training, and Public Records Act (PRA) Section (RTPS) in the California Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division Executive Office. The SSM I has primary management oversight for and provides leadership, direction, and supervision to analytical and clerical classifications responsible for regulations, training, and PRA requests which impact the CJIS Division, division policy, and the functions of over 1,200 employees within the division. The SSM I is the first working supervisor level responsible for employees who perform journeyperson level work and assigns and reviews all work produced by RTPS staff. The SSM I exercises a high degree of initiative and independence in this capacity and must have extensive knowledge of regulatory and PRA processes and policies, as well as the other function areas of the section. The SSM I must fully comprehend and speak to the issues related to regulations, including to read and analyze regulations and statutory authority and prepare proposed regulations packages with input from the programs and / or bureaus. The SSM I must verify, assign, and review all work.
