Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Mayfield, KY 42066 (Western Kentucky healthcare jobs)

Unit : Medical / Surgical Unit (65 beds)

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 30 / 2025 – End : 3 / 1 / 2026)

Shift : 12-Hour Nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), every other weekend required

Hours : 36 hours per week (guaranteed)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1680-$1800

Patient Ratios : Up to 1 : 8 with Patient Care Assistant (PCA) support

Electronic Health Record : Meditech

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active and unencumbered RN license (Kentucky or compact state)

Minimum 1 year of recent Medical / Surgical nursing experience

BLS certification (required before start date)

CPI, HWC, or MAB certification (required before start date)

Ability to float to similar hospital units as needed

Demonstrated compassion, kindness, and strong patient care skills

Must reside at least 60 miles from Mayfield, KY to qualify as a travel nurse

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med / Surg unit

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress

Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes

Care for patients with diagnoses such as COPD, post-operative joints, diabetes, and more

Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment following hospital policies

Participate in weekly orientation sessions (Mondays)
