TRIO Academic Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES

: The TRIO Academic Coordinator is responsible for direction and operation of the TRIO programs. The TRIO Academic Coordinator develops and implements policies and procedures related to the program objectives and curriculum. The TRIO Academic Coordinator will teach participants and monitor participants’ progress throughout the grant year. The TRIO Academic Coordinator will develop and design academic college access curriculum that supports the academic accomplishments of TRIO participants. The incumbent identifies and selects eligible applicants for participation in the TRIO SSS programs. The incumbent works directly with students and provides intervention services as necessary. The incumbent works closely with university faculty, staff, and administrators, community leaders and professionals, faculty, staff, and administrators of other postsecondary educational institutions to establish and maintain a high level of quality services.REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree required. Good written and oral communication skills, leadership abilities, and proven interpersonal skills are essential. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in education, counseling, teaching, social work, or related area with at least two years’ experience as a teacher, counselor, social worker, or closely related area is preferred. Previous experience in working with economically and educationally disadvantaged students. Planning and implementation of counseling programs and/or curriculum development for disadvantaged students is helpful. Supervisory experience is desired.
