Director of Assessment and Taxation

THE POSITION

Washington County is seeking a Director of Assessment and Taxation to inspire and lead the department. This role is not just about management; it's about shaping direction and driving ideas forward. The Director will oversee a diverse array of operations, including Appraisal, Taxation, Elections, Cartography, Recording, and Archives, all while ensuring we adhere to local, state, and federal laws. Essential duties include :

• Provide leadership, direction, and strategic planning for all Assessment and Taxation functions, ensuring compliance and accessibility.
• Oversee property appraisal, taxation, elections, recording, and archiving to ensure accuracy, fairness, and transparency.
• Manage department operations, budgeting, staffing, and workflow with efficiency and accountability.
• Foster a supportive work culture that values teamwork and communication.
• Represent the department to county leadership, elected officials, and the community with professionalism and clarity.
