POSITION SUMMARY

Members and staff operate successful employment, education, wellness programs and work as partners to perform all the functions that keep our community going. The Fountain House model has been replicated in more than 300 locations in 30 countries and 32 states and currently serves more than 100,000 people with mental illness worldwide. As originators of this approach, we provide leadership by constantly advancing the practice and by leading the conversation around mental health recovery. As a result, Fountain House has created a comprehensive Community System of Care. This includes Clubhouses in Manhattan, the Bronx, Hollywood, California and Care Management, Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment Services and a large housing program ranging from 24-hour supervised residences to scattered site supported apartments. We are committed to reducing social isolation, advocating for mental health policy change, and driving solutions that empower our members.
Fountain House's housing program provides a sense of safety and stability, ensuring that members remain housed; establish a safe space for recovery; develop independent living skills; increase their self-sufficiency and build a strong foundation from which they can achieve their life goals.
Our Residential Aides will provide exemplary care and support to our member residents. We strive to create a safe, caring, and collaborative community where our members will thrive and achieve their goals by providing support to members' daily lives.
Shift : Saturday and Sunday overnight 12am-8am (overnight)
Pay Rate : $23.48 per hour
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Support
- Engage and support members in the residence or apartment to perform necessary tasks for the upkeep of the residence and the well-being of members
- Work as part of Fountain House's integrated care team providing feedback, advocacy and support to FH clinical staff, case management support staff, vocational staff, and social practitioners
- Establish and update goals and accurately record progress of members
- Conduct conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed for members in a crisis
- Maintain daily log entries regarding complaints and incidents
Building Safety & Maintenance
Meet and greet members, visitors, and external providers, check identification, and announce visitors to member residentsRespond to emergencies and contact 911 when needed; report the incident to the Residence Director.Provide excellent communication skills, take phone messages, and transfer calls appropriately to members and Residence DirectorConduct rounds to ensure safeguards are in place throughout residential space, for member safetyAttend staff meetings and training sessions as requiredOther duties may be assigned as neededREQUIRED KNOWELDE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience and capacity to work with members experiencing mental health issuesProvide exceptional ongoing support and member confidentialityExcellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with members and staffProven writing skills for accurate documentation and progress notes when neededExcellent computer and software proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook)Must be able to work under pressure during a crisisAbility to meet deadlines for documentation and any other necessary dutiesAbility to work independently, multitask and conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practicesPositive, energetic, dynamic, and engaging personality is essentialCollaborative and creative approach to work-related dutiesREQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND CREDENTIALS
High School Degree or GED required1-2+ years' work experience in a residential or similar setting requiredFlexible and able to work any residential shift, including evenings and weekends as neededKnowledge and passion for issues affecting people living with mental illness strongly preferredMust obtain staff exclusion list (SEL), statewide central registry (SCR) and criminal background check (CBC) clearanceSalary Description
