Guiding Eyes for the Blind has an extraordinary opportunity for a skilled Nurse (LPN or RN). Guiding Eyes provides on-campus housing for our visually impaired students aged 16 and older, during their two-week orientation and training with their new guide dog. As a Residential Nurse , you will ensure the well-being of students by providing a safe environment as well as creating a positive experience for them during their residential training.
In this role, the Residential Nurse will support students in the training program, provide excellent care and perform established processes in accordance with Guiding Eyes policies. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of evening activities (crafts, music, games, wellness, etc.) for the students, maintaining an active and accessible presence to facilitate student engagement as well as manage medical conditions and solve problems or emergencies that may arise. Additionally, you will assist students and their guide dogs to navigate safely around the building as well as with basic dog care such as supervising and helping in the relief area.
This position is onsite at our Campus in Yorktown Heights, NY and requires overnight stays. It is a rotational schedule, approximately three nights per week (4 : 30pm to 6 : 30am) which can include weekends and holidays. In addition, the ability to cover approximately one to two on-call shifts per month is required .
The position includes a meal and a private room during your shift.
