About this job :
Directs and oversees all internal audit functions for the District, providing independent and objective assurance to the Board of Education and District leadership. Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and indirectly to the Board of Education Treasurer and serves as a key advisor on risk management, compliance, and operational integrity. Leads the design and implementation of comprehensive audit programs to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, financial practices, and operational processes. Ensures District assets are safeguarded and that all funds are managed, receipted, and disbursed in full compliance with District policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and administration of the department's budget to ensure alignment with District goals and fiscal integrityDirect the recruitment, training, and performance management of the Audit Department staff, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvementEstablish the annual internal audit plan, determining priorities, scope, and timing of audits based on risk assessment and organizational objectivesServe as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies for review of internal audits, ensuring effective coordination and communication of internal audit activities and findingsEvaluate and recommend enhancements to policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen operational efficiency and safeguard District assetsReview and analyze audit findings to identify systemic issues, inefficiencies, and potential fraud; provide executive-level reports and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of EducationLead and conduct ongoing complex or high-profile special audits and investigations to be presented to audiences such as the Board of Educations, Superintendent and CFOPromote fiscal stewardship and operational excellence across the District through proactive audit strategies and data-driven decision-makingAudit and report on the districts capital program including bond investmentsPerform other executive responsibilities as assigned in support of the District's strategic and operational prioritiesWhat You'll Need :
Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field - RequiredMaster's Degree - PreferredAt least Seven (7) years of experience in internal auditing, compliance reviews, operational audits, or entity-wide financial oversight.
