Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Overview :
We are looking for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide remote services to K12 students across West Virginia . In this role, youll ensure that students with visual impairments can fully access the curriculum and reach their academic and personal goals. The TVI will provide direct instruction, adapt learning materials into accessible formats, and guide students in using assistive technology. Collaboration with families, teachers, and school teams is an essential part of the position to support student growth and inclusion.
Caseload :
Serving a diverse group of K12 students with varying degrees of visual impairment
Combination of direct virtual instruction and consultative services for teachers and families
Caseload may include students with multiple disabilities, requiring collaboration with other providers
Responsibilities :
Deliver virtual instruction and consultative services to students with visual impairments
Adapt curriculum and materials into accessible formats (e.g., Braille, large print, digital tools, assistive technology)
Support students use of assistive technology to access academic content
Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to promote inclusion in the general education setting
Participate in virtual IEP meetings, write progress reports, and maintain compliance with state and district requirements
Encourage self-advocacy and independence in students with visual impairments
Requirements :
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field with endorsement in Visual Impairments
Active West Virginia teaching license with VI endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
Experience providing instruction to K12 students with visual impairments
Proficiency with virtual teaching platforms and digital accessibility tools
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
