POSITION SUMMARY

The staff will carry a selected range of cases through which an increasing knowledge of best practice principles and methods, and knowledge of community resources is demonstrated.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide quality clinical services to a selected client population under regular ongoing supervision.

Successfully engage clients in services as demonstrated by client treatment completion rates, increased client functioning and client completion of treatment plan objectives. (Individual, Group, Family, Couples, therapy)

Formulate psychosocial evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans in consultation with a licensed supervisor.

Demonstrate an increasing comprehension of the dynamics of human behavior, family systems, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders and appropriate intervention techniques.

Provide treatment services appropriate to the personal and cultural identity and language of the client.

Consistently evaluates and treats co-occurring disorders using a standardized co-occurring assessment tool.

Provides specific documentation of history and chronology of both mental health and substance abuse disorders

Treatment plans routinely address mental health and substance abuse disorders equivalently in specific detail

Treatment interventions in addition to medications are used to address mental health disorders

Provide integrated evidence based practice to clients as evidenced by supervisor observation, case presentations and audio or video taped sessions with clients.

Determine the client’s readiness for treatment and change as well as the needs of others involved in the current situation.

Formulate mutually agreed-on and measurable treatment goals and objectives.

Carry out appropriate treatment plans, according to best practice standards, and evaluate the progress throughout treatment and at termination.

Provide assessment and treatment through individual, family and group treatment modalities while tailoring the helping strategies and treatment modalities to the client’s stage of change or recovery.

Integrate evidence based practice into client service delivery.

Perform 100% of assigned productivity expectation

Consistently evaluate and treat co-occurring disorders and link to appropriate supports.

Adhere to professional ethical and behavioral standards of conduct to maintain professional standards and safeguard the client.

Locate and coordinate the provision of appropriate supportive services and community resources as appropriate.

Provide advocacy services on behalf of client when appropriate.

Demonstrate respect and nonjudgmental attitudes toward clients in all contacts with clients, community professionals and agencies.

Record case activity within required timeframes according to agency procedures and requirements.

Understand and follow agency policies and procedures and complete all the mandatory trainings.

Participate in ongoing supervision, consultation, staff meetings, and appropriate training.

Work towards DPH licensure and credentialing standards throughout employment.

Accept and carry out other related duties upon request.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in the human services field, preferably with related experience in direct practice services. For billable treatment programs, candidate must meet certification and licensure standards established by the State of Connecticut and the Council on Accreditation. Non-billable treatment programs require a master’s level degree in the human services field along with related experience.

Competencies :

  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to understand models and theories related to individuals with mental health, substance use and / or co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to apply mental health, addiction and co-occurring theory to practice.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to conduct a thorough clinical evaluation of individuals with mental health, substance use and / or co-occurring disorders and establish a DSM 5 diagnosis.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to understand client treatment preferences for individuals with mental health / substance use and / or co-occurring disorder in relation to their cultural / religious diversity.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to specifically assess for co-occurring disorders, including symptomatology and stage of change and translate this to an individualized, behaviorally-based treatment plan.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to ensure appropriate referral to appropriate levels of care and necessary follow-up.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to provide group therapy through the selection of appropriate strategies for individuals with mental health, addiction and / or co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to provide Family and / or Couples Counseling based on available theories / models for individuals where addiction / mental health and / or co-occurring disorders has disrupted their relationship.
  • Demonstrates an entry level knowledge and ability to provide individual therapy based on the selection of appropriate strategies within the available research for individuals with mental health / substance use and / or co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of diverse cultures, and regularly incorporates the relevant needs of culturally diverse groups, as well as people with disabilities, into clinical practice.
  • Able to meet agency compliance standards, including ensuring treatment plans, documentation and assessment reach third party payer requirements.
  • Ability to adhere to professional and ethical responsibilities as they relate to agency policy and relevant professional boards.
  • Demonstrates ability to use computers including but not limited to aptitude in using : Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; and electronic medical records.
