Effectively evaluates the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans. Functions as a role model in Respiratory Care, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base. Prepares and tests respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation. Checks equipment in use and on units for proper operation and routine service. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the manager. Processes and maintains respiratory equipment. Accurately charts on the respiratory flow sheets in the electronic medical record (EMR) and on care plans. Charges accurately in the EMR. Completes assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients receiving respiratory care services. Recommends timely interventions and the need for further treatment or referral in the participant's respiratory care regimen. Records procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements. Consults with the Respiratory Care Practitioner regarding any adverse effects and compliance with equipment. Relays the same information in writing to the physician. Evaluates patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units. Evaluates patients for routine respiratory care therapy for patients in the emergency room. Obtains and analyzes blood gases : arterial, venous, and capillary. Assists in cleaning respiratory care-related equipment. Assists with stocking respiratory care-related supplies on the inpatient care units.
