Corrections Registered Nurse Compensation

The pay for this position is

$50.00 per hour

Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment

A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Corrections Registered Nurse Highlights

This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire permanently based on attendance, performance, and business needs

Schedule :

2nd shift (2 : 30 PM–10 : 30 PM)

Weekends : Every 3rd weekend

On-site only — no remote option

Work environment : Secure correctional facility with established safety procedures

Corrections Registered Nurse Responsibilities

Provide professional nursing care to patients in a state-operated correctional facility

Observe, assess, and document symptoms, reactions, and patient progress

Perform nursing rounds, take vital signs, and maintain accurate medical charts

Prepare and administer medications, treatments, immunizations, and care plans

Provide emergency care including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency transport

Monitor restrained or isolated patients and conduct wellness checks per protocol

Support specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, dialysis support, blood transfusions, tube feeding, catheterization, oxygen therapy, and more

Act as lead nurse on shift when senior staff are unavailable; direct LPNs and aides

Assist with staff development, care plan reviews, and orientation of new staff

Complete documentation including incident / accident reports and medication records

Assist with inventory of medications and medical supplies, including controlled substances

Coordinate outpatient appointments and communication with external healthcare providers

Corrections Registered Nurse Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio

Current healthcare-level CPR certification

Prior RN experience in acute care, corrections, LTC, behavioral health, or similar settings preferred

Strong assessment, documentation, and critical-thinking skills

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team within a secure environment

Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days

Security Requirements

Must pass all facility security screenings

Clear bags only

No silverware

Coffee mugs / tumblers must be clear

Must clear metal detectors upon entry
