Position Summary
The CNC Setup Man is responsible for setting up and preparing CNC machines for production in an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position ensures machines are properly tooled, aligned, and ready for operators to run parts according to established specifications. No programming experience is requiredthe focus is on machine setup, tooling, and first-article verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC mills and / or lathes according to work orders, blueprints, and setup sheets.
- Install and align fixtures, tools, and workpieces using proper setup techniques.
- Load and verify CNC programs provided by engineering or programming personnel.
- Perform first-article inspections to ensure setups meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Adjust tool offsets and verify part conformance throughout the setup process.
- Maintain accurate setup documentation and communicate setup details to machine operators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic setup or tooling issues before production release.
- Ensure machines, tools, and work areas are maintained in clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all company and industry safety and ISO quality standards, including AS9100 requirements.
Qualifications
Experience : Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience in aerospace or precision machining.
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical training preferred.
Skills :
Strong understanding of CNC machine operation, tooling, and setup practices.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and GD&T symbols.Proficient with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.Familiarity with G-code operation and basic machine control navigation (no programming required).Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with machinists and inspectors.Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.Manual dexterity for handling tools, fixtures, and precision components.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, coolant, and machine movement.Work Schedule
Full-time, 6am - 2 : 45pm. Overtime may be required as needed to meet production goals.
