General Job Description :

This is enforcement and neighborhood development field work, ensuring the public's participation in, and adherence to the requirements of the City's public safety traffic enforcement or sanitation programs. Positions in the Public Safety Traffic specialty manage and regulate the safe movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic during peak traffic times, special events, and accident scenes at key, high-volume intersections and various intersections as assigned. Positions in this specialty also take appropriate enforcement action issuing violations of The Philadelphia Code traffic regulations, ticketing illegally parked vehicles as needed, and performing support services in identifying and enforcing the removal of abandoned vehicles in the City to advance significant quality of life improvements for residents and businesses.

The requirements are as follows :

  • Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.
  • Option 1 : Two years of experience, performing semi-skilled and manual work in general laboring activities in a Streets Department sanitation operation.
  • Option 2 : Two years of clerical or field experience which shall have involved, as a significant job assignment, giving information to or eliciting information from the public.
  • Option 3 : Three years of experience performing manual work in general laboring activities in a Streets Department sanitation operation
