As an Operator Technician, you will play a key role not only building and maintaining state-of-the-art subsea equipment here in Maryland but also traveling worldwide to operate the equipment to support the US Navy and other clients. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :
The Operator Technician will participate in the maintenance, repair, and operation of diesel and hydraulic systems for complex underwater search and recovery systems and subsystems. This person is required to work in a team environment and to travel worldwide on an emergency call basis. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports directly to the Lead Operations Technician.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists in operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel and hydraulic deck machinery of launch and recovery systems for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), towed systems, and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) in the ready for issue condition onshore and in the offshore operating environment.
- Assists in troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic and mechanical systems of subsea vehicles.
- Assists in mobilizing and demobilizing subsea equipment aboard vessels of opportunity.
- Pilots and copilots ROVs and operates ROV manipulators.
- Assembles recovery rigging as directed.
- Maintains logs, records, and documentation updates.
- Effectively handles watch standing requirements of AUV and ROV operations as directed.
- Complies with established Phoenix quality management system (QMS) processes and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Two years of formal diesel or hydraulic training, or four years of equivalent work experience maintaining and repairing diesel generator sets, hydraulic power and control equipment, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic rams, and hydraulic tools.Ability to read and troubleshoot from hydraulic schematics.Familiarity with assembling overhead rigging such as shackles, wire rope, slings, lifting chains, swage fittings, and other rigging hardware.Offshore experience is highly preferred.Experience with welding is preferred.Computer competence in a Windows environment.Team player with attention to detail and good organizational skills.Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.Ability to travel worldwide on short notice, for indefinite periods of time.Ability to pass employee physical exam.Ability to pass a pre-employment drug / alcohol screen and background check, as required.Equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities
