Your mission

Lead automation operations with a builder’s mindset. You’ll blend hands-on troubleshooting with systemic thinking to ensure autonomous machinery delivers on throughput, safety, and quality. You’ll drive continuous improvement, standardize work, and scale best practices—while developing talent and partnering cross-functionally.

Key outcomes

  • Automated systems that meet business requirements—validated daily on the floor and through data.
  • Rapid root-cause resolution for issues tied to change orders and enhancements, in concert with IT.
  • Clear KPIs for automated processes across distribution and fulfillment—and continuous improvement against them.
  • Robust SOPs, with training materials created, updated, deployed, and audited for completion.
  • Well-governed code : coordinated testing with internal / external resources and rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with defect tracking and feedback.
  • Engaged, high-performing team : hiring and advancement recommendations, coaching, reviews, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, terminations, and pay adjustments as needed.
  • Disciplined execution : timekeeping and attendance accuracy, SOP adherence audits, and optimized use of equipment, facilities, methods, materials, and talent.
  • Culture carrier : weekly team huddles, regular 1 : 1s, and ongoing development aligned to Ashley’s values.

Leadership and technical profile

  • Associate’s in PLC Programming, Automation / Robotics, or related field—or 5+ years relevant experience.
  • 4+ years leading teams.
  • 5+ years PLC programming or automation design / assembly; 5+ years automation maintenance in manufacturing.
  • Current PLC platform fluency; able to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Proficient with 2D / 3D software and document management systems.
  • Strong electrical / mechanical foundation; confident with math.
  • Capable of fabricating parts or assembling machines using hand tools.
  • Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.); measure in English and Metric.
  • Translate 2D / 3D mechanical drawings into executed results.
  • Team-centric communicator; thrives in fast-paced, multi-task environments with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; effective time management and organization.
  • Independent contributor and collaborative partner; analytical, discreet, and persistent problem-solver.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet tools.
  • Professional, respectful, and empathetic with customers and coworkers; composed during difficult employee / vendor / customer interactions.
