Job description
Revitalize Communication for All Ages in New Orleans - Become Our New Speech Language Pathologist

Overview

Imagine a career where every interaction allows you to spark joy and restoration. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant community of New Orleans, your role extends beyond the treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. You will become a catalyst for potential, rebuilding confidence and nurturing connections. From encouraging toddlers to articulate their first words to assisting seniors in regaining their independence, your impact will resonate.

This position presents an exceptional opportunity to engage with a diverse demographic across various age groups within an exciting setting that combines outpatient and occasional inpatient therapy. Whether your expertise lies in pediatric speech development, adult communication challenges, or cognitive rehabilitation for the elderly, this role offers you the fulfilling experience of making a difference in lives.

Description
  • Conduct thorough evaluations utilizing standardized tests and observation for pediatric to geriatric populations.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs, addressing both immediate and long-range goals.
  • Administer personalized speech therapy focused on enhancing communication, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and families to develop holistic care plans.
  • Provide education for patients and their families to support therapeutic progress outside of clinical settings.
  • Occasionally assist with inpatient therapy evaluations and interventions, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in line with all regulatory standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and collaboration with peers to stay ahead in the field.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you are not already ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of start date.
Skills
  • Adept in implementing evidence-based treatment techniques for all age groups, showcasing a strong grasp of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Capabilities to modify therapy strategies to cater to diverse cultural backgrounds and language preferences.
  • Strong clinical judgement, creative problem-solving skills, and an ability to think on your feet.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation practices.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary determined by experience.
  • Flexible scheduling to support a healthy work-life balance and varied patient caseloads.
  • Specialization opportunities in pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.
  • Choice of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • Support for continued education and professional growth.
  • A collaborative work culture that prioritizes quality care and lifelong learning.

A Role That Inspires Connection and Growth

Here, you won't merely be performing speech therapy - you'll engage in a heartfelt mission committed to restoring voices, fostering communication, and cultivating moments of joy through meaningful human connections.

Become part of a close-knit team that values each member like family, working in an environment where collaboration soars above competition. Each patient comes with their own story; we invite you to help narrate it beautifully.

Why You Will Embrace Living and Working Here

The vibrancy of life in New Orleans is a delightful fusion of cultural richness and warm hospitality. Nestled by the meandering Mississippi River, this city is a treasure trove for those who cherish a blend of art, music, and culinary delights.

Families gather for spontaneous celebrations and street parades, while outdoor enthusiasts revel in the nearby bayous, jazz clubs, and world-famous festivals that breathe joy into every moment. Culinary adventurers can indulge in delectable gumbo and beignets or savor gourmet dishes crafted by award-winning chefs.

The artistic pulse of New Orleans is evident in the thriving local music scene, vibrant murals, and annual festivals that unite diverse communities. Additionally, the benefits extend beyond lifestyle factors-including no state income tax, and a moderate cost of living, this city stands as an excellent choice for career advancement in a flourishing healthcare landscape.

Whether you're starting your journey or seeking to elevate your career, New Orleans offers you the ideal backdrop to flourish - personally and professionally.

Who We Are Seeking

We are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist who is motivated not only by outcomes but who feels deeply for each individual they support. You should be capable of envisioning a bright future for a reserved child or hearing the determination in the voice of a stroke survivor.

You may be a pediatric specialist wanting to broaden your experience in adult therapy - or a neuro-focused clinician excited to integrate early intervention within your skills.

If your heart beats for your craft and you're eager to serve with compassion while leading with expertise, we invite you to join our team.

Let's Communicate Effectively - Together

If you perceive speech as more than mere sound, and therapy as transcending tasks - if you encompass a philosophy of trust before goal setting, and value laughter as much as learning - this could be your next chapter.

Become a part of a community that honors communication, connection, and the brave steps towards new beginnings. Apply today to lend your voice to our mission - and to help others discover theirs.
