American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and active NE or compact license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) within an acute care hospitalAverage daily census is 24 with a 1 : 4-5 nurse to patient ratio on both day and night shiftsAdult patient population with cardiac med / surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, and renal failure casesRNs handle titration of drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulinExperience with arterial lines and high flow respiratory equipment requiredRNs read and interpret their own telemetry stripsTelemonitoring with RNs responsible for interpretationNight shift position, 12-hour shifts (1830-0630)Weekend requirement is every other weekendMust work a minimum of 2 holidays during the contract if dates applyFloating required to MedSurg or ICU to care for PCU acuity patientsUses Epic EMR, prior Epic experience preferred but not requiredMust pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%Navy blue scrubs requiredTeam includes charge RNs on every shift and patient care techs (1 : 12 ratio)High focus on patient experience, communication, and responsivenessRTO (Requested Time Off) must be submitted up front and cannot exceed 7 days per 13-week contractArtificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areasCandidates should be flexible, team-oriented, and responsive to feedbackServes a diverse patient population including Hispanic and Somalian communities\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent Progressive Care / Stepdown experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all must be active at time of consideration)Competency with arterial lines and reading / interpreting telemetry strips requiredAbility to titrate multiple drips independentlyDriver’s license required to validate residency outside a 50-mile radiusCandidates may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
