Gastroenterology Physician

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide locum inpatient coverage beginning in mid-December 2025 in a facility in western Massachusetts. This is a locum tenens position covering inpatient consults, procedures, and emergency GI care due to a physician retirement. Outpatient responsibilities are not expected at this time and may be clarified later.

Dates / Schedule

Start Date : Mid-December 2025

Duration : Until permanent physician is hired

Call Schedule : 1 : 4 call, Friday 4pm Friday 4pm

Call Duties : Floor, ED, ICU, emergent consults, and endoscopies (as needed); carry beeper overnight

Job Details / Responsibilities

Setting : Inpatient gastroenterology (adult patients only)

Clinical Areas : Hospital GI, Endoscopy

Procedures Required :

Upper GI Endoscopy (various types) : with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, injection and banding of varices, PEG placement

Lower GI : Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Small Bowel Biopsy

Other : Esophageal Dilatation, Manometry, Manometry Interpretation, Liver Biopsy

Hospital Support : Onsite lab and X-ray

Documentation via EPIC EMR

Patient Volume : 4 12 patients / day

Outpatient Care : Not required (subject to update)

Required Skills and Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (BC preferred)

Active Massachusetts medical license Required

BLS certification Required

ERCP certification Preferred but not required

Experience with core GI procedures and inpatient consults
