Overview

First Baptist Church of Morganton seeks a full time Senior Minister. The church nurtures a + membership through a program of Christian education and ministry providing a way to grow in faith and discipleship. An experienced pastor with vision and leadership skills for future church growth is required. Abilities and dedication to congregational care, and leading the compassionate extension of Christian service for both membership and to an expanding service area is sought. First Baptist Church is dedicated to being servants of Christ by committing ourselves to Christian growth; following the example of our Lord; and being God’s people wherever we are. This position is available due to retirement.

Major Responsibilities: (Matthew :)

To help existing Christians become better Christians

To reach non-Christians of all ages evangelistically and through other means so that they have the opportunity to become Christians

Duties Performed:

Provide overall oversight/leadership of the Church

In general, casting the vision for church spiritually, practically and programmatically

Conduct religious services including the ministering of the ordinances

Minister to the spiritual needs of the members of the church and community

Lead all ministries, preaching and pastoral care (visiting the sick, shut-ins, bereaved, etc.)

Conducting funerals, weddings, and other special services, homecoming and revivals, and other special events

Supervising all members of the ministerial staff, church administrator and other support staff

Work with the staff to plan worship services

Serving all church committees as an ex-officio, non-voting member

Participate in strategically selected community activities and organizations

Perform other duties that pertain to the position of senior minister

Qualifications:

Clear calling from God to the ministry in general and to pastor First Baptist Church of Morganton

Bachelor degree in Ministry required. Master Degree or Doctorate degree preferred from an accredited seminary or divinity school. All applicants should be previously ordained

Salary is based on experience, credentials and degree. Vacation time eligibility based on total time in ministry.

Schedule:

Monday thru Friday, Sundays, Weekends as needed Saturday and one weekday off

Experience:

Associate Minister level or greater: 7 or more years required

Primary Language: English

Conversational Spanish (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate: Morganton, NC or surrounding communities within Burke County required
