Nature Center Instructor

Do you love the outdoors, enjoy teaching, and get excited about helping people connect with nature? The Crystal Lake Park District is looking for an energetic and creative Nature Center Program Instructor to join our team!

In this role, youll help bring nature to life through hands-on, engaging programs for schools, scouting groups, families, and the community. If youre passionate about environmental education and thrive in a fun, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What Youll Do

• Plan, organize, and lead nature-based educational and recreational programs
• Create and deliver engaging programs for:
  • School field trips
  • Scout badge programs
  • Birthday parties
  • Community outreach events
• Develop written content for brochures, program descriptions, and marketing materials
• Present fun, interactive lessons and talks to groups of all ages
• Prepare program areas, manage supplies, and ensure smooth set-up and clean-up
• Work collaboratively with the Nature Center Recreation Supervisor and Marketing team

What Were Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required
  (Degree in environmental science, education, or related field preferred)
• At least 2 years of teaching or public presentation experience
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Ability to connect with diverse audiences of all ages
• Comfortable using basic computer applications
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently
• Available to work evenings and weekends
• Able to juggle multiple programs while staying professional and positive
