Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatrics unit with trach / vent experience and an alternating day / night shift schedule.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital Pediatrics unit caring for patients with a variety of pediatric diagnosesPatient diagnoses include prematurity, apnea of prematurity (AOP), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), bronchopulmonary dysplasia / chronic lung disease (BLD / CLD), cardiac defects, feeding issues, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS)Patient ratios are 1 : 3, with up to 4 patients when acuity is lowerSpecialized equipment includes trachs, vents, PICCs / central lines, and administration of TPN / ILAlternating day (7 : 00–19 : 00) and night (19 : 30–7 : 30) 12-hour shiftsRequired to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduledFloating is required within specialty and sister units as neededNo on-call responsibilitiesResponsibilities include managing pediatric trach / vent patients, central lines, and specialized TPN / IL therapiesTravelers are first to float when unit patient census requiresFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyHoliday coverage is required as assignedBlock scheduling or schedule restrictions cannot be guaranteedReturn travelers must have a 6-month gap from prior assignment at this health systemFormer staff must be separated from the system for 12 months to be eligibleMost contracts allow for one extension before a 6-month break is requiredDress code and orientation modules will be discussed during onboardingRequirements
Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent pediatric RN experience requiredExperience with pediatric trach and vent patients requiredCurrent BLS certification (AHA only) requiredCPI certification required, Calm Every Storm version acceptedACLS preferred, PALS and NRP certifications accepted (AHA or AAP for NRP)Two satisfactory professional references from recent employers required, including one supervisor / manager and one charge RNCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the hospitalBenefits
