Program Manager - Hyperscale Data Center Layer 1 Construction

Position Summary :
We are seeking a seasoned Program Manager to lead and oversee a portfolio of large-scale, hyperscale data center infrastructure projects, with a focus on Physical Layer 1 (fiber, cabling, splicing). This role is responsible for managing a team of Project Managers, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic alignment across multiple concurrent construction initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in telecommunications infrastructure, construction leadership, and financial oversight, with a proven ability to scale operations and drive results in fast-paced environments.
This role will oversee operations across 1-2 locations within Eastern and Central time zones, managing a team of 2-5 Project Managers. The position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote work with part-time travel. Onsite presence is required to launch new projects and to address critical issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage a team of Project Managers executing hyperscale data center Physical Layer 1 infrastructure projects
- Oversee all operational and strategic aspects of program delivery, including planning, execution, risk management, and quality assurance
- Develop and implement best practices, process improvements, and standard operating procedures across all projects
- Own and manage program-level financials including P&L, capital and operational budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies
- Serve as the primary escalation point for project issues, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and client stakeholders to align project goals with business objectives
- Drive business development initiatives and customer relationship management to support growth and service expansion
- Mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Participate in strategic planning and change management initiatives to support organizational growth and transformation
Qualifications :
10+ years of experience in mission critical construction environmentsProven track record managing large-scale, high-volume infrastructure programs specifically in hyperscale data center environmentsStrong background in Physical Layer 1 infrastructure including fiber optic splicing, cabling, and network layout designDemonstrated expertise in financial management including budgeting, forecasting, cost reduction, and trackingExperience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple concurrent projects / PMs across diverse geographiesExcellent skills in strategic planning, operations management, and risk / change managementStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and lead at all levels of the organizationFamiliarity with OSHA safety regulations and industry best practicesBenefits
