The San Francisco Bay Area is the global epicenter of innovation. Yet the region’s founders, investors, and innovators lack a dedicated, regulated financial institution that truly understands their needs. This stealth community bank is being built to fill that gap. Designed from the ground up to be Founder-First, Fund-Focused, Relationship-Driven, Ecosystem-Powered, and Sustainability-Embedded , we are creating a modern financial institution that blends the trust and rigor of a fully FDIC-insured bank with the agility and insight of a partner rooted in the innovation economy.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to become the Founding CEO of a de novo bank in the world’s most dynamic startup ecosystem —a role that will define your career and shape the future of how founders and investors bank.

Your Mandate

  • Lead the Chartering : Serve as the primary executive interface with the DFPI and FDIC to secure approvals and establish a foundation of regulatory trust.
  • Drive Capital Formation : Inspire and lead a capital raise from founders, investors, and institutions aligned with our mission.
  • Operational Build-Out : Establish the core banking infrastructure—including compliance, risk, IT systems, and vendor partnerships—ensuring readiness for launch and scalable growth.
  • Governance & Leadership : Work in close partnership with the Founding Visionary & Chief Growth Officer (CGO) , the board, and the founding team to guide the bank through chartering, capitalization, and launch.
  • Technology & Innovation : Lead the integration of modern banking technology, digital client experiences, and fintech partnerships. You do not need to be a technologist yourself, but you must be open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn from technology leaders.
  • Growth & Market Strategy : Shape go-to-market strategy, client acquisition, and product launch, positioning Founders Bank as the trusted choice for the innovation economy.
  • Culture & Talent Development : Recruit and inspire a high-performing, inclusive leadership team and foster a mission-driven culture aligned with our values.
  • Be the Face of Founders Bank : Represent the bank at the highest levels of the startup, venture, and innovation ecosystem.
  • Deliver Growth with Purpose : Build a durable, profitable institution that scales with the ecosystem it serves while embedding sustainability and inclusion at its core.

Who You Are

  • A seasoned banking executive (CEO, President, or senior leader) with a proven track record in regulated financial institutions, ideally with de novo or high-growth experience.
  • Recognized for regulatory credibility , with established working relationships and the ability to successfully navigate FDIC / DFPI requirements.
  • A co-founding partner at heart : ready to work side-by-side with the Founding Visionary & CGO, sharing leadership and shaping the bank’s direction collaboratively.
  • Open-minded and adaptable , with a willingness to embrace new technologies and partner with experts to deliver modern banking solutions.
  • A capital raiser and storyteller , capable of inspiring investors and galvanizing ecosystem support around a bold vision.
  • Experienced in building or transforming financial institutions at scale while embracing innovation.
  • Mission-driven and ego-light , placing institutional success and collective purpose above personal spotlight.
  • Deeply connected to the Bay Area’s innovation economy —venture capital, accelerators, and mission-driven founders.
