Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)
Compensation : $32 to $51 per hour depending on years of experience
Position Overview
The Emergency Department RN delivers compassionate, high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic ED environment. Using the nursing process, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients of all ages presenting with urgent or life-threatening conditions. This role requires critical thinking, adaptability, and collaboration with the entire ED team to ensure rapid response and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and initiate emergency interventions
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and efficiently
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with timely interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other team members to stabilize and treat patients
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during crisis situations
- Maintain organized and well-supplied patient rooms and ED work areas
- Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Assist in training and orienting new staff and nursing students as needed
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)Current RN license in Wisconsin (or eligibility for licensure)BLS certification (required, or able to obtain within 90 days)ACLS and PALS certification strongly preferred1+ year of prior ED, ICU, or critical care experience preferred (new grads with strong interest in emergency nursing may be considered)Strong ability to stay calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure situationsSkills & Abilities
Rapid triage and decision-making skillsStrong clinical knowledge across multiple specialties (trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neuro, etc.)Proficiency in emergency equipment and procedures (airway management, defibrillation, code response)Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilitiesBenefits
