GENERAL SUMMARY :
Utility / Prep Cook Associates participate in providing a total quality dining service program. This includes thorough cleaning of dishware, flatware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, equipment, and facilities to meet sanitation standards. Utility Associates may also perform a variety of food preparation duties such as preparing cold foods and shellfish, slicing meat, prepping salads, desserts, hot food prep and brewing coffee or tea.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
General duties include but are not limited to : cleaning, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and dusting kitchen and dining room, and food prep as assigned.Wash and ensuring dishes, pots and pans, and utensils are at the highest standards of cleanlinessCleans dishwasher machine inside and out after each shiftMaintains a neat appearance of working areas and cleaning equipment storage areasCleans floor drains as scheduled and as neededReports to the Cook or Executive Chef any equipment and supplies that are neededEnsures the proper use of equipment and supplies and upholds cleaning and safety standardsMust be in company uniform and resident ready at all timesPerforms other related essential duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contactsAble to make independent decisionsMust be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring mannerMust be able to follow recipes and menusMust be able to follow direction and prepare meals when the head cook is absentMust fully understand the importance of reliability and timelinessMust possess a passion to work with and around senior citizensEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
High School Graduate or equivalentEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Experience in professional food service is preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Work in all areas of the communitySubject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditionsUse personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infectionPersonal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves and non-slip shoesThis position is exposed to very hot water, hot oven temperatures, sharp knives and utensils, and broken glass, slippery wet floors and other ordinary kitchen environmental risks, requirements for personal protective equipment are apron, hair net, chef’s hat and coat, rubber gloves, hot pads, non-slip shoes, short sleevesSubject to infectious diseases, substances and odorsFollow Safety Policy & Procedures
