Director, Student Academic Services

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development, coordination, and implementation of recruitment and retention strategies and programs at the undergraduate level.
• Review available recruitment / enrolment data as well as conduct and / or oversee recruitment / enrolment market research in support of recruitment and retention efforts. Collaborate with department heads to review program and registration trends and costs.
• Hire, direct, and supervise staff in the Student Academic Services (SAS) unit. Identify training needs and introduce professional development opportunities in support of the needs of the Unit.
• Assess all SEM related issues such as recruitment, admissions, readmissions, enrolment, scheduling, registration and retention processes.
• Recommend and manage a budget for the unit and ensure that expenses stay within established limits.
• Maintain functional liaison and foster collaboration with other Faculties, the Office of the Registrar and other internal and external partners with a view to help meet the University’s enrolment goals.
• Manage student awards, selection of valedictorians, graduation medals and Dean’s list. Address and manage student complaints.
• Represent the Office of the Dean on various committees and working groups.
• Undertake other related duties assigned by the Dean or Senior Director.
