Gastroenterology Physician

Location : Springfield, MA Springfield offers a vibrant urban experience with rich cultural heritage and is the largest city in Western Massachusetts. Facility : This medical center is a well-established healthcare provider offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to the Springfield community. The facility features onsite lab and x-ray capabilities, with a modern EPIC EMR system to support streamlined patient care and documentation. Opportunity : Board Certified - Gastroenterology Job Details :

• Coverage needed starting mid-December 2025 until permanent physician placement is found
• Inpatient gastroenterology services with approximately 4-12 patients per day
• Call structure is approximately 1 : 4 rotation (Friday 4pm-Friday 4pm)
• Responsibilities include floor / ED / ICU consultations and emergent endoscopies when needed
• Carry beeper overnight during call shifts
• Join a team of 4 physicians in the gastroenterology group
• Required procedures include esophageal dilatation / manometry, esophageal manometry interpretation, small bowel biopsy, lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and liver biopsy
• Proficiency in various types of upper GI endoscopy including diagnostic, therapeutic, with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, injection of varices, banding of varices, and PEG
• EUS / ERCP skills are NOT required (though ERCP certification is nice to have)
• No outpatient expectations
• Must have active Massachusetts medical license
• BLS certification required
• Board certification preferred Compensation : Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
