Position Summary

The maintenance worker is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the entire facility including repairs and ensuring equipment is safe to always operate under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Functions

• Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Installs equipment and appliances.
• Follows local and state building codes.
• Complies with all company safety regulations.
• Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
• Reports any issues to the maintenance manager.
• Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
• Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
• Follows written and verbal instructions from the maintenance manager.
• Perform janitorial services when needed such as cleaning and restocking restrooms.
• Strip, wax, and polish floors with floor machines
• Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
• Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
• Use equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
• Maintain the grounds of required gardening services
• Check all program areas for potential health safety problems or violations.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• Plumbing troubleshooting and repair with augers, drain snakes, and drain cleaners.
• Install and repair toilets, sinks, faucets, and shower valves.
• Perform drywall repairs and installation.

PAY RATE : $20-$23.00 / hr.

Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs Due to licensing requirements, all employees / candidates for employment must be fully vaccinated and have booster shot or accept booster shot within 15 days of eligibility, unless they have an official exemption approved by The Salvation Army. This position requires employee to be vaccinated and have a booster shot against Covid-19 or to provide an approved exemption request form. Employees with exemptions must be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis and must provide a written copy of their test results per compliance regulations.

Education

High School or Equivalent (required)

Experience

CPR and First Aid certification a must. (required)

Minimum of 3 years' experience in the building maintenance field (required)
