SAFETY COORDINATOR
ESP is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support and ensure safety, health, and regulatory compliance across all company operations. This role involves managing risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, conducting field observations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting safety training programs.
Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Coordinator will play a key role in promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the organization and with external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure that ESP complies with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and applicable industry standards, as well as internal policies and procedures.
- New Hire Onboarding and Training : Facilitate safety and compliance onboarding for new hires, verifying they understand company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Conduct safety orientation and support ongoing employee safety education.
- Training & Development : Design and deliver safety training programs, including OSHA 10 / 30-hour, confined space, fall protection, fleet safety, and CPR / First Aid certifications. Provide hands-on instruction in workplace hazard recognition and ensure training meets OSHA and client-specific requirements.
- Fall Protection Program : Support the implementation and monitoring of fall protection procedures, equipment inspection programs, and employee training to reduce fall hazards.
- Fleet Safety : Support fleet safety initiatives, including driver qualification reviews, MVR checks, training programs, and compliance with DOT standards.
- Risk Management : Perform regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, including fall hazards and fleet activities, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Incident Response and Investigation : Respond promptly to workplace incidents by conducting investigations and root cause analysis. Recommend corrective measures, including post-accident drug screenings and medical treatment coordination.
- Field Support Observations : Conduct regular field observations at job sites or operational areas to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards. Provide on-the-ground support, collaborate with supervisors and project managers, and assist in developing corrective actions.
- Reporting and Documentation : Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, field assessments, compliance audits, training activities, and fleet safety documentation.
- Emergency Preparedness : Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including fall rescue procedures and fleet incident response.
- Continuous Improvement : Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety programs and compliance initiatives.
- Collaboration : Work closely with internal departments (HR, Operations, Business Units) to ensure safety and compliance strategies align with company objectives.
Qualifications
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in workplace safety program coordination and oversight, including policy creation, field support, training curriculum development and delivery, risk assessment, and general compliance recommendations.Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and industry-specific safety guidelines.Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.Experience in fall protection and fleet safety preferred.Strong communication and training facilitation skills for small and large groups in virtual, online, and in-person settings.Experience evaluating the effectiveness of workplace safety programs and implementing corrective actions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in various positions, including walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching overhead, and carrying equipment.Some travel to company facilities and job sites will be required.Ability to develop open communication with staff at all levels of the organization to foster a positive safety culture.Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company policy.Preferred Certifications & Credentials
Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.OSHA 500 (Trainer Certification for Construction) or OSHA 510.OSHA 30 Hour40-hour HAZWOPPERCPR / First Aid instructor certification.CIT (Certified Instructional Trainer).Fleet Safety / Defensive Driving Instructor certification.Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, Railroad, and DOT standards.Proficiency with safety management platforms such as KPA, Avetta, and ISNetworld.Corporate Information :
