DNP Software Engineer - Build Federal Financial Systems
Location : Kansas City, MO or Omaha, NE

Compensation : Up to $108 / hour DOE
Overview of the Role
Join the Application Development Services team supporting the Bureau of the Fiscal Service in a high-impact role where your software engineering expertise will directly contribute to critical federal financial systems. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll work with cutting-edge cloud technologies, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that strengthen America's financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Apply software engineering principles to design, implement, configure, and optimize solutions for applications, databases, test automation tools, and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products
- Partner with product owners and customers to develop innovative solutions that meet business goals and technical requirements
- Review and analyze business and technical requirements, implementing robust technical solutions to fulfill specifications
- Work with multidisciplinary teams of full-stack developers to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Create comprehensive unit tests as part of Continuous Development practices and maintain high code quality standards
- Conduct thorough peer code reviews, provide constructive recommendations, and collaborate to enhance software coding practices
- Fix bugs and provide support through QA, UAT, and Production phases of releases
- Foster and apply an agile mindset that enables high-performing teams and rapid delivery
- Provide coaching, education, and advocacy for development best practices and emerging technologies
- Offer technical support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident management, and service request management for supported products and environments
Required Skills & Qualifications
Required :
6+ years of relevant software engineering experienceBachelor's degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or closely related field from accredited institution (or equivalent combination of directly related education and experience)Senior understanding of subject matter with in-depth and / or breadth of knowledge in software engineering disciplineProficiency with Git (merging, conflicts, cherry picking), Java, AWS, Python, and SQLSubject matter expertise with Cloud and Java codingAbility to work independently with limited supervision, coach and delegate work, and serve as knowledge resource and mentorWork efficiently under tight deadlines and adapt quickly to changeExceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workExperience creating modern CI / CD pipelines using DevOps tooling (e.g., GitLab)Knowledge of AWS services and security best practicesExperience with cloud networking across multiple accounts, environments, and vendors, including zero trust principlesProficiency with Terraform and CDK for deploying AWS cloud services and infrastructureUnderstanding of API infrastructure, development, and associated tools and best practicesStrong problem-solving, oral and written communication skills, including experience with executive presentationsUnited States citizenship (required for this position)Preferred :
