The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing daily production activities to ensure on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role develops and maintains production schedules, monitors workflow, identifies bottlenecks, and collaborates closely with operations, procurement, and quality teams to keep production running smoothly. The Planner analyzes forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints to create realistic schedules and proactively resolves issues that could impact throughput or delivery commitments. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all M&M safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support manufacturing to ensure daily production requirements are achieved, meeting customer expectations; this role directly influences the On-Time / In-Full (OTIF) KPI and is evaluated on that performance.
- Review incoming orders and provide expected completion dates with the goal of meeting customer-requested delivery dates.
- Analyze and prepare production documentation to ensure work orders are clear, accurate, and ready for execution.
- Monitor material supply flow and identify shortages or bottlenecks affecting production.
- Create and maintain production schedules, prioritizing job orders for maximum efficiency and resource utilization.
- Ensure timely release of work orders in ShotScope (or comparable system) to provide visibility for all planning and purchasing requirements.
- Coordinate with department supervisors and other functional teams to track production progress and completion dates.
- Communicate daily with shop-floor leadership to resolve issues, address delays, and maintain schedule adherence.
- Update and maintain reports related to production progress, work in process (WIP), and raw-material inventory.
- Ensure special instructions or customer requirements are captured in work orders to prevent missed expectations.
- Assist in reviewing and verifying the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Maintain an organized and clean work area in compliance with M&M’s 5S and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include tasks at a lower or higher level of proficiency as business needs require.

All work is performed in a manufacturing environment, which may be hot or cold at times and requires the use of PPE (e.g., safety glasses) as specified. Duties may involve occasional lifting, extended standing, and walking throughout the facility.
