Firewall Administrator

Overview

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Palo Alto Firewall Engineer for a hybrid opportunity. This position requires candidates to reside in Pennsylvania and work on-site in Harrisburg two days per week.

Position Overview

As a Palo Alto Firewall Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable network architectures across enterprise environments. This position plays a critical role in aligning network infrastructure with business objectives and security requirements. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of network security technologies, vendor-specific platforms, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to deliver resilient and high-performing network solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect secure network infrastructures that align with organizational goals and security standards.
• Evaluate, deploy, and manage firewall technologies, intrusion detection / prevention systems (IDS / IPS), and secure communication protocols.
• Conduct network risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and threat modeling to inform architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and security teams to integrate network and security components effectively.
• Lead incident response architecture planning and support post-incident reviews for continuous improvement.
• Provide expert-level guidance on firewall technologies, network protocols, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
