About the Position
The Public Relations Coordinator supports the Mississippi Library Commission’s mission by leading strategic communications, enhancing public awareness of agency programs, and promoting a consistent, professional image of the agency. This role manages MLC’s public relations, social media, content creation, publications, and community engagement efforts across multiple platforms. The coordinator works closely with all MLC departments to develop and implement communication strategies that inform, engage, and inspire both internal and external audiences.

What you'll need to be Successful
Candidate should demonstrate good communication skills, customer service abilities, a friendly and professional demeanor, must possess the ability to work well independently upon instruction, must have knowledge and skill to both perform and review the work that is overseen. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong graphic design and video editing abilities; proficiency with social media management tools, design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite), and analytics platforms; familiarity with Constant Contact, LibGuides, Canva, and website CMS platforms is a plus; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail under tight deadlines; comfortable with public speaking and presenting to varied audiences; strong work ethic and understanding of agency as public-facing information provider.
