Description :

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is seeking a Registered Nurse.

The unit provides specialized care for trauma patients, cardiovascular surgery patients, neurosurgery patients, and other complex surgical cases.

Nurses will be responsible for the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, and blood product administration.

Common diagnoses include acute ventilator needs, high oxygen demand due to COVID-19, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleeding, and multi-system organ failure.

Nurses will float to step-down units as required and may have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2-3.

Weekend shifts will be required every other week.

The environment includes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.

Special procedures in the unit may include bedside conscious sedation, chest tube insertions, and central line placements.

Nurses will utilize specialized equipment such as Swan catheters, CRRT machines, and ventilators.

The unit does not accept travel pairs and holidays off must be approved at the manager's discretion.
