Job description

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer (Lead) for our client in Nashville, TN. He / she provides leadership, task management, and prioritization of issues for the customer-centric quality group as assigned. You will mentor more junior quality engineers and provide an escalation path for the Quality Engineers and others. He / she assists with plant ISO 9001 activities including internal auditing, calibration and document control. You will draft Process Flows, Procedures, Work Instructions and Forms as required and be responsible for any other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager. The main job functions are divided into four categories : Planning, Monitoring, Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement.

Planning : Works with the Quality Manager to determine workloads and coordinate assignments for both sustaining and NPI (New Product Introduction) quality teams to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on-time.

Monitoring : Evaluates daily and weekly reports to ensure that the cross-functional team is addressing issues on the production line in a timely and effective manner. Monitors the progress of 8D's, SCARs, and other customer-specific communications tools to ensure all customer complaints are addressed in a timely manner. Provides weekly reports to the Quality Manager and the management team on FPY, Scrap, 8D progress, help needed, escalations, etc.

Problem solving : Evaluates all of the cross-functional team's corrective actions to ensure completeness, accuracy and effectiveness. Provides coaching and mentoring to the cross functional team on problem-solving tools, including, but not limited to 8D, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, 5-Why analysis, DMAIC, OODA, etc.

Continuous improvement : Tracks KPI's for each process / product, such as First Pass Yield, Scrap, On-Time Delivery and works with the cross-functional teams to address issues, in cooperation with the cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Certified as ISO 9001 internal auditor.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Analytical and detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy.
  • Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative.

Compensation : $100,000 to $115,000 per year annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role may include healthcare insurance offerings and paid leave as provided by applicable law.
