Job Summary

As an integral member of the compliance and legal teams, the Legal and Compliance Assistant will provide substantive support with policyholder complaints, compliance filings and reporting, and legal administrative assistance to the senior legal assistant and other members of the compliance and legal teams to support the company's needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record new policyholder complaints in our system as they come in
  • Assist in responding to and resolving policyholder complaints
  • Create and file certain product-related reports
  • Assist the product filing team with product and related filings
  • Assist senior legal assistant in managing department budget and the accounts payable process
  • Provide overflow legal assistant support to members of the legal and compliance teams as needed
  • Proactively handle high priority administrative items independently in the absence of the department head
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability and desire to have multiple responsibilities in different substantive areas
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an executive / administrative assistant, compliance support, legal support, or similar occupation
  • Ideal candidate will have experience working in the insurance industry, particularly assisting teams with customer complaints and / or regulatory filing / reporting needs
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Experience with budget and / or financial reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with other people at various levels, including executives
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize projects and complete with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to handle extremely complex and confidential material; handle delicate situations with discretion and judgment
  • Ability to understand diverse information and analyze to make appropriate conclusions
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider the equivalent combination of experience and education.

The base salary for this position falls within the range of : $60,000-$75,000
