Director Of Virtualization, Storage, And Platform Services
The Director of Virtualization, Storage, and Platform Services is a senior IT leader responsible for designing, modernizing, and maintaining enterprise-level virtualization, storage, and hybrid cloud platforms that support CUNY's academic and administrative operations. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Technology Officer, this position leads the strategic vision, design, and operations oversight of mission-critical infrastructure, including on-premises virtualization clusters, enterprise storage systems, disaster recovery platforms, and hybrid cloud integrations with Microsoft Azure and other providers. The Director will drive modernization initiatives that enables scalability, high availability, business continuity, and cost efficiency, while ensuring compliance with ITIL frameworks, institutional data governance policies, and federal security standards. This role requires close collaboration with campus Chief Information Officers, senior academic and administrative leadership, and technical teams across CUNY.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
Minimum qualifications include six (6) years of progressively responsible full-time paid information systems technology experience, at least eighteen (18) months of which shall have been in an administrative or managerial capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, information systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration or a closely related area. Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for the general information systems technology experience at the rate of one (1) year of college for six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of four (4) years of college for two (2) years of experience. In addition, a master's degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for an additional year of the general information systems technology experience. However, all candidates must possess the eighteen (18) months of administrative or managerial experience described above.
The salary range is $165,000 $172,800, commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
