Project Engineer
Company Overview
Our company is developing a world-class advanced manufacturing facility dedicated to producing high-performance metal components for critical industries. As part of a Greenfield startup scheduled for production in 2026, we are assembling a team of highly skilled professionals to establish, validate, and continuously improve our operational and engineering systems.
Position Summary
The Project Engineer reports to the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for managing capital, production readiness, and maintenance projects from concept to completion. This role focuses on developing project scope, budgets, and schedules, coordinating installation and startup activities, and ensuring that all projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with SQDC priorities (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost). The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and can manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Develop project scope, budget, and schedule documentation, including equipment procurement and contractor selection.
Create, maintain, and update Gantt charts, master project plans, and master equipment lists.
Coordinate and manage installations, equipment startups, and plant modifications, ensuring safety and compliance.
Monitor and report project progress, including scope, cost, and schedule performance, through monthly updates.
Support process and plant improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and overall profitability.
Recommend and design plant layout changes and modifications with cost and engineering considerations.
Provide engineering support to maintenance teams, performing data collection, analysis, and problem resolution.
Lead and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform additional assignments as directed by leadership, always prioritizing safety and SQDC principles.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, or Civil Engineering (or related field).
Strong verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels and with external partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and AutoCAD.
Proven ability to manage large-scale projects involving design, procurement, construction, and startup.
Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated success leading or contributing to lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of industrial project experience, including plant design, construction, and project management.
Knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and warehousing technology.
Experience with 2D / 3D modeling and digital systems such as Ignition, Lynq MES, SAP, Power BI, and CMMS.
Background in highly regulated industries (Aerospace, Medical, or similar).
Familiarity with formal quality and problem-solving tools such as Pareto, 5-Why, 8D, Ishikawa, and A3.
Experience in AS9100 or similarly governed environments preferred.
